PUBLIC HEARING – OCTOBER 16, 2023 -- KASB POLICY JBCC
5:30 PM Zach Dowell , called the meeting to order to adopt a policy to determine the number of nonresident students that the school district has the capacity to accept in each grade K-8th grade and program gardes 9-12 for each school of the school district pursuant to K.S.A 72-3123 and amendments thereto. Board members that was also present were Randy Evans, Kellie Schlamzried, Darla Schamzlried, Curt Vogel, and George von Leonrod. Board member absent was Brian Leighty. Also in attendance for the meeting were superintendent Angela Lawrence, DES building principal Josh Johnson, DJSHS building principal Mathew Hendricks, athletic director Tyler Lingg, and board clerk Kaylee Martindale. Board members reviewed the KASB Policy JBCC. Superintendent, Angela Lawrence also discussed the application and also the process that will go into effect. Randy Evans moved to adopt KASB policy JBCC. Darla Schmalzried seconded. Motion passed 6-0. President Zach Dowell adjourned the hearing in regards to policy JBCC at 5:41 p.m.

ENROLLMENT OF NONRESIDENT STUDENTS
USD 482, Dighton Public Schools policy JBCC under Kansas Law requires the board to allow nonresident student to enroll in and attend the schools of the district if the board’s capacity determination finds there are open seats for such students.
USD 482 Board of Education has adopted the set capacity for each grade level in each school building of the school district for the next succeeding school year as follows:

From June 1 through June 30, district administration shall accept applications from nonresident students. Applications for nonresident students shall be completed on or before July 15 of each year.
